Stay Safe Guidance
Minnesota’s Face Covering Requirement
Emergency Executive Order 20-81 requires Minnesotans to wear a face covering in certain settings to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Minnesotans must wear a face covering in indoor businesses and indoor public settings, as described in this order and the related industry guidance below, as well as any other guidance referenced in this order. Workers must also wear face coverings outdoors when it is not possible to maintain social distancing. When leaving home, Minnesotans are strongly encouraged to have a face covering with them at all times to be prepared to comply with the requirements of this Executive Order. For complete details and a list of frequently asked questions on Executive Order 20-81 surrounding mandatory face coverings, please see Face Covering Requirements and Recommendations under Executive Order 20-81.
Mask Up Resources for Business
Businesses can find resources to help promote mandatory face coverings such as signage, social media graphics and more at the All Businesses page.
Visit this page if you have safety concerns regarding non-compliance with COVID-19 Guidelines and Executive Orders.
COVID-19 Preparedness Plans
All Minnesota businesses were previously required to establish and implement a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan per Emergency Executive Order 20-74. However, that Plan might need to be updated to reflect the new face covering requirements in Executive Order 20-81 signed July 22, 2020. Businesses should review their existing COVID-19 Preparedness Plans and communicate with employees any changes to that Plan as a result of EO 20-81. Read the Preparedness Plan FAQs for more information and see details for your industry below.
